Zinka Bejtic

I am a professor and Head of the Department of Art and Design at the American University of Sharjah. My expertise lies in the human dimensions of education. Grounded in educational psychology, my research examines how feedback and teaching relationships influence motivation, particularly how people develop confidence in their abilities and the judgment to think independently.

I bring more than three decades of educational experience to this work. Through teaching and faculty development, I examine how care and intellectual challenge can support each other in practice.

My current research extends to AI-mediated feedback and human–AI collaboration. I explore how people retain authorship of their work as technology takes a greater role in its development. I am particularly interested in educational experiences that strengthen our capacity for independent judgment while deepening our attention to others and our responsibility for the decisions we make.
